La Jetée

La Jetée is a new collective of artists, writers, and designers based in Biarritz, France. They have put together a first fanzine to showcase their work and express their vision of the city they live in. Historically, Biarritz has always been a place of inspiration and experimentation, espcially in Architecture. This project was an opportunity for local creatives to experiment without limits.

La Jetée is the french word for " jetty " and represents the seaside environment of Biarritz, but it also means " to throw ". In this case, to throw some ideas out there without limitations. Biarritz and the Bask Coast is mostly known to be a tourist destination in the summer, with its palm trees, great waves and prestigious hotels. But this heavenly city often gets forgotten during the rest of the year. This fanzine aims to show that there is creative life all year round within Biarritz. The fanzine is split into two parts, a winter and a summer.

The idea came about in March 2015 and the fanzine was successfully launched on the 24th of July. The release was accompanied by a party and an art exhibition which was held at OIM Tattoo in Biarritz. 11 creatives took part in this project. The covers were spray painted by hand and then screen printed, which makes each fanzine a unique piece.
